My DPR 100 Class

Well I am going to talk about my first computer class, DPR 100. I was very nervous about this class. My teacher for the class is Ms. D, She is an great teacher! She has taught me alot this semester. Things I never thought I could figure out on a computer. Some things I almost gave up on, but she pushed me on and showed me that I could do it!!
I am not saying that computers are my favorite thing now, lol, but I can definitely handle myself on one now. I feel I have the basic knowledge to get me in an entry level position in the field that I choose.
We learned the program Excel, Word, and how to start a blog. I also learned how to make and present a power point.
I know enough now that I just might be dangerous.

Changing My Major??

It is near the end of my first semester. I was going to pursue a degree in Culinary Arts. I am not so sure now. I am thinking of changing to social work. A few events in my personal life recently have made me rethink my decision. I actually need to set up a meeting with my academic counselor to get some more information. I want to make a difference in peoples lives. I am not sure what courses I have to take to pursue this degree. I am throwing the idea around in my head right now. So may things have changed in my life over these last couple months, I just want to make sure I am making the right decision. My first step is going to be to research the career on the computer, then I will take it from there. Wish me luck in my decision making process!!!!

Christmas Tree 2014

Christmas tree shopping for 2014. We went out on a cold night the weekend after Thanksgiving. My husband, my two sons and myself. Nobody else wanted to go with us. We actually found a tree at the first place that we stopped at. Its a beautiful Frazier fur, about 6 feet tall. We brought it home, Tim set it up, put the lights on, then then the fun began.
I made hot chocolate and everyone began to decorate. Each child puts on their own ornaments. They have acquired a few over the years. Many ornaments adorn the tree, from 28 years ago until now. Christmas music plays in the background  A few ornaments get broken every year because the kids can't resist goofing off. It is a beautiful beginning to our Christmas season.

Finding My Time

Its December and the hustle and bustle of the holiday season has begun. I am trying to find the balance in my life right now. Going to school, finals, and taking care of my family, is proving to be a struggle. I need to learn how to make "me" time.If I don not take the time for myself I will not be any good for anyone else.
Christmas comes way to fast in this house, with eight kids and ten grandkids. I never have enough money to get everyone that gifts that I want them to have, so I try to do my best.
The kids love Christmas and everything that comes with it, the baking, the decorating, the music, the shopping. I love Christmas too, but need to get everything else out of the way so I can fully enjoy the season. Hopefully once finals are over I can get into the Christmas spirit.

Black Friday Shopping

Every year after our great Thanksgiving dinner and desserts we prepare for our black Friday shopping trip. It is a tradition in our family that only the girls go. It is a fun day for my daughters and myself to spend some quality time together. We leave bright and early, it seems like we go to a thousand stores.... We go out to breakfast and lunch. Braving the crowds together and having an awesome time.Sometimes we are looking for certain gifts but more often than not we are just browsing. By the end of the day we are usually exhausted and have laughed so hard that our cheeks hurt. I look forward to spending this time with my girls!!!

My School Life

Well, I have almost completed my first semester of College. I am 45, so it seems a bit funny to say, but that's my life. It has been difficult at times, but very rewarding. I have been a stay at home mom for so long, I am finding the challenge very exciting. I have worked very hard in all my classes and it seems to have paid off. My family is very proud of me and they have been very supportive. I could not do this without them. It is funny to have my son, daughter and myself in college at the same time. I am trying to make a better life for us, and I have almost completed the first step!!!!

Thanksgiving 2014

Thanksgiving 2014 was a wonderful family holiday. We played our second annual "Street Family Turkey Bowl." We had a blast!!! It was really cold that morning but my die hard family still wanted to play. I put the turkeys in the oven and we went to play our family football game. I am so glad I started this tradition last year, they all had been looking forward to it all year long. Luckily no one got hurt this year. I believe this is a tradition that will last into our next generation!!!

Grandchildren

Another crazy week on the calendar for me. My 24 year old daughter is having her second child this week. She is having a little boy. He will be my tenth grandchild. Six girls and four boys. Presently my daughter is living with me, so it will be fun to have a newborn in the house again. I love being a grandmother, even though I do not feel old enough to be one. Grandparenting involves all of the love of parenthood without all of the added stress . We can love them, spoil them. Play with them, then give them back to their parents. This baby will be surrounded by a lot of love considering he will be coming home to a house full of aunts and uncles.

It has been a very hectic, crazy week at my house.  I hosted the whole Academy Park Field Hockey team for their annual pasta dinner. Every year they have a dinner to bond as a team, and get to know each other better. There are forty girls on the team. My daughters Dakota and Riley are both on the team. Dakota is sixteen; Riley is fourteen. Ten pounds of pasta and a lot of dirty dishes later the job was done.  They are a wonderful group of girls and it was a good night.
My son Tyler was able to come home from college for his fall break. We picked him up Friday and he is home until Tuesday night. He attends Albright College in Reading, Pa.

Today is Sunday and it’s our weekly family get together to watch football. Needless to say, my house is as full as ever .I am loving all my family and enjoying our time together.

                                                                  Eight is Definitely Enough

Hello everyone, my name is Tara Street, I am 45 years old and I have eight children. Yes, eight children. I have been married for 25 years to my high school sweetheart. We had our first son when we were 16. We now have five girls and three boys.  I also have nine grandchildren.  There are many joys that come from raising a big family.
One of our favorite things to do together as a family is watch football together. We all get together for every Dallas Cowboys football game. Everyone wears their favorite Dallas shirt and brings their hopes for our team to win that day.
We have plenty of snacks, food, and fun.  There is a lot of clapping, cheering and sometimes some yelling at the television. Some games are good some games are not so good.
We take our football games very seriously in this family. Win or lose, we always come back for the next game.   It is not the most popular thing to be a Dallas Cowboys family in an Eagles town; that is what we are and we love it.

Football is one way that my family shows our togetherness.  It so wonderful during a game to look around my living room and see all of their beautiful faces and to think to myself I scored big with my family!!!
